Originally from Mexico whit a
degree in geography, Juan Rios (Ce-Acatl) currently works as
a printmaker and painter in Switzerland. Expressionistic in
style, his work is reminiscent of Latin American folk art. The
paintings are rich, comprised of vibrating color combinations
that appear to be spontaneously arranged, yet have actually
been carefully composed on Tibetan rice paper. The themes are
complex, dealing whit history and tradition, yet whimsical-laden
whit humor and fantasy. His paintings are sincere in expression
and come from his own individual experience and vision rather
than from a formal academic background. Rios strives to share
his specific and intimate interpretation of life using a universal
visual language. |
